Coaches’ Corner, Inc. is an innovative idea born from a dire need in our community. Each year close to a dozen Harvey High School students find themselves experiencing serious family difficulties which may lead these students to sleep and eat wherever friends will let them settle for a time. Our sports coaches see these problems first hand and concur that it is difficult to get these teenage boys to execute instructions and achieve academic success, thus the name Coaches’ Corner, Inc.
Coaches’ Corner, Inc., a group home model, will offer a small number of high school age boys what all youth should be able to expect from life: a warm place to sleep, regular meals and someone to offer hope, guidance and encouragement.
The program also offers free independent living skills classes to other Harvey High students who cannot reside in the home. These classes include: finances, car buying, health & prevention, marriage & relationships, home care, educational support and college preparation, cooking, job preparation & career talks, and recreation.
